THE RACERS

Jiri Kriz

“I am a former long distance and marathon runner; I have done cycling for the last 20 years – mainly multi-stage events in Europe but I also finished 3rd at Australia´s Crocodile Trophy.”
Oldy

Jiri Kalousek

“I am a former Czech national team para-cyclist (class LC 1). From 1993 to 2007 I raced in World and European Championships (road and track), at European Track Championships in 1999 I won a bronze medal in individual pursuit. I participated in both road and track cycling events at Sydney Paralympics 2000.”

David Bures

“I started to train about 8 years ago when I began to take racing seriously and took part in about 15 marathons every year. In about 2010 season I started to focus on multi-day events and I have really enjoyed this kind of racing (have done TransAlp, BikefourPeaks, Alpentour bike races etc.). In winter I enjoy cross-country skiing marathons (50 km in 3 hr 52 min.). In spring I often run Prague Half-Marathon (1 hr. 34 min.). For about three years now I have been taking part in short races (they are about 25 km long located in various parts of the Czech Republic), these time trials are a part of long time virtual competition (www.virtualcup.cz); in 2013 I was an overall winner in 5 of these races.”

Michal Jon (Team Captain)

“I did a three-year around the world non-stop unsupported bicycle tour with my wife (2002-2005; 43,000 miles; 34 countries; all 7 continents). I have written 7 books about bicycle touring, including a European bicycle routes guide book. I have also written numerous articles for various Czech bicycle and travel magazines. I did two Trans-American unsupported rides - in 2004 I cycled the northern route from Seward, Alaska to New York City (5,900 miles; 110 days); in 2009 I cycled the southern route from Los Angeles, California to Miami, Florida (4,400 miles; 65 days) - I suppose my RAAM time will be faster than those :-) ”
